panoram tripod

Using my panoram head - inwolves 5 additional pounds on my back - and it was not acceptable by my back, espetially in mountains. I used a technick from aone internet side - used my small monopod as a weight - I connected the cord to a turning point of my lense (where it is located on yours - easily awailable data from the net). When I turned around - I tried to keep the cord straight. The results are worse then with panorama head, but better then fron hands. Simple and helpfull. andrey

OK

I have a Monfrotto/Bogen Monopod and also a tripod. They both have a swivel head, that is interchangeable. There is a mount that fits on the camera, and never has tobe removed. It clicks onto the swivel mount and automatically locks.

I have added to the Monopod a Shoulder brace that works with the mount and this is fantastic. I go to Ritz Camera in Ft. Lauderdale and there is a guy there that is a good Photographer, and he suggested that I order a universal mount for the monopod that basically releases a small tripod mount, three legs, to the monopod which is retractable. He uses and says it is fantastically steady coupled with the shoulder brace. I am going to order tomorrow! With just the shoulder brace I find I am able to shoot at 400mm with no problem. I can only believe this will be better with the legs.

I do not use my tripod a lot, because it is real heavy to carry. It does work very well in the proper situation.

Tripod

Andrey, welcome back!
Is that the tripod you create with a string? I read about using one when they don't allow the use of regular tripods or monopods, as it happened to me during my last trip.
I read about it but never tried it, Thanks for the advice :)

Re: panoram tripod

Larry - this is different thing. For panorama you do not need a steady thing, just rotate the camera around nodal point, but this is sorta complicated, because on the tripod - camera is rotated around camera body, and it makes panorama stitch - difficult. - the goal of any panorama head - to rotate camera around precisely nodal point.
