Since this site was started, there have a low number of errors concerning problems with Uploading Files. (99% of these problems have been from the user end and include some of the following:
File Size too large, or PPI is too high
File Size to small
File namimg convention - File name is too long or complicated creating what is known as a "Parsing Error"
File contains Jpeg Artifacts.
Here is how I approach this;
Photo comes off the Camera as JPG or Raw.
If I work with and edit the Jpg, I save as a tiff.
If I continue to work on the file in PS or PP or some other editor I save a version for that Editor. FOr example PS, save as Psd file.
I check the final version for size to conform with the Max 1024 and Min 640 requirement. I ALWAYS make the ppi 72.
When I have finished editing the final version, I optimize the file for the Web. (PS, CS2, PP and PSP and Corel) have this feature built in.
Do not compress the image
Set optimization for maximum quality
In the final step to optimization, you are asked to save the file as a jpg.
Choose a simple name - i.e. Larrys Mom
I put all my upload files in a seperate folder called APOW.
I upload from that folder.
Since I have been doing this, I had one photo that did not upload corectly. I made an error and the ppi was @400ppi and I missed it. I always try to make the max dimension 1024, because the software is optimized for this.
Try it ............... It works!

PSD files a huge, if you want to continue to work with them, sure safe it this way, if it is final - transfer ti TIF with zip compression - it is reasonable. | | August 17th, 2007 05:25 PM | | LVE

However, the uploaded file has to be a jpg. You can use the Save to Web option and then do what you are saying unless i am misunderstanding you! | | | [1] | | Login Now to post a reply (You will be brought back here to post your reply) |
