I think you should have several filters. UV, Skylight 1a, CPL and a couple of ND's. ND8 will have limited use for most type shots. I use ND2 and ND4 a lot, but only use the ND8 in very bright light like bright sunrises. You can also stack these filters, and it takes a lot of practice in different situations to find out what they do. I do not use Cokin, but they are very use and if you do not use filters now, they are supposed to be very good. I understand they are a little more expensive. I believe Andrey uses them. I have shot with him several times never saw him use that ND. Nothing wrong with it, but you will have to up high on the ISO, and about 2-3 clicks down on the aperture.
