Most professional digital photographers use a technique to protect their work from being stolen. This technique is called meta data and is an additional encoding which can be added to include information on every photo you use and summit to APOW.
For all of you that are using cameras that contain EXIF ( exchangeable image file format) information when you submit a photograph, we will capture that. This data contains the make and model of your camera, and , if you use a flash, and basically all the technical information as to the way the shot was taken. Taking this a step farther, by using another embedded tag called IPTC, (international press telecommunications council). This information includes your name, descriptive text and copyright notice. This is very easy to add to any photo depending upon the editing software you will be using. There are many software products that allow you to batch add the IPTC information to all of your photos.
If you are worried about someone stealing your work and protecting your coptrights, you should consider looking into how to do this and add the information in all of your photos.
Bet you didn't know this! If you have this information embedded on all of your photos, there's a way to search the web for this information and find out if your photos are being used without your authorization. We will do our part, you have to learn to do yours. Larry |
