Has the compulsory sizing of images been changed ?

Out of curiousity has there been a change in the stipulated compulsory sizing of 1024 on one side ? I have seen many photos outside this guideline recently, and if it has been changed can we receive an offical announcement to confirm ? Thank you.....

Image Dimensions

No side can be larger than 1024 Pixels. Minimum for largest side is 640. Originally we said 700. If I failed to communicate this I apologize. I know I did in one of the forums, but should have emailed out an update. My apologies!. If you can set your maximum side to 1024, you will get bests results with our software. Better viewing = Higher Scores!

But this requirement is not embedded in a software , and, if I am a bit of a jurk - I can make it as big as it is possible. Am I right?

No! No!

You have to resize. You know how to do this.
