I have looked at some of the photos that have been submitted and there are a couple of things I would like to point out to everyone. The photos in our viewer will be crystal sharp, and can be viewed as a full page, by making one click on the thumbnail. OOOOH, does a sharp viewer and a full page look at it show all of the details clearly and vividly. This of course means the defects as well. Here is a couple of things you should know:
I never edit a photo and save as a jpg
I convert my off the camera shots to tif and work with them when editing. I also use PS & PP files. This way there is no deteriorations as there is with JPG.
Most browsers do not display more than 96 ppi
I submit most all of my photos at 72 ppi
Photos should be Optimized for the Web
I use (Example)
High Quality - No compression - Sometimes some smoothing
Three (3) Progressive passes
I always view them in my browser before submitting to simulate what it will look like in the WS.
If you do not learn and follow some of these suggestions, and if you always make your file size 2 mb, you will be unhappy with your scoring results, that I guarantee.
Please note, that I am not providing one on one solutions here, but rather making you aware of some things that are very important. No instructions or mentoring will be provided until we launch Phase II. Larry
