About the Aspiring Photographers of the World (APOW™)
In early 2005, one of the partners Larry R. Van Etten had been discussing a Web Gallery with a potential investor. This investor was very interested in the Arts, and previously owned galleries in New York City and Houston. He asked Larry to come up with some ideas, and he came up with the concept and name, Aspiring Photographers Of The World (APOW™). This venture never panned out, so it was back to the drawing board.
Soon after joining The Photographers Workshop, a strange “happenstance” occurred. One of the members reviewed one of Larry’s photos, and asked some questions. This individual is the other partner, Jacob T. Nyhart. Larry responded with a detailed explanation that was followed by phone calls and emails. During the course of these discussions, the APOW concept came up, and Jacob liked the idea, and had some very original ideas of his own. There was a strong synergy.
Larry lives in Florida, Jacob lives in South Carolina. The partners have never met face to face. (we'll update when this finally happens) Jacob is a young Network Engineer, and Larry is “older then dirt” and a retired corporate executive. You may ask what is wrong with this scenario, and the answer is, that except for being unusual, perhaps bizarre, absolutely, nothing! The synergy continues, and with all business details legally established, we are soon to be a thriving entity.
Our goals are to be the best Web based Photography site in the world. We are about new and creative techniques, quality, and integrity.
We will provide a venue for photographers at all levels to display their works, and to have those works critiqued by their peers, and a professional panel.
We will provide a vehicle to train and mentor those who aspire to improve their techniques and abilities.
We will have an on line gallery for photographers to offer their works for sale. (It should be noted, that there will be a selection process to determine which photographers will be allowed to participate in this gallery)
Only those who demonstrate the highest quality work will be considered!
We welcome any questions you might have, and are interested in your ideas and concepts to help us develop a better site as we move forward.
